Staff Biographies
Orange Door Counseling is a collaboration between José Rodrigo Niño, Rebecca Hamilton Niño, and Lee Wichman. They bring a combined experience of 20 years to the field of psychotherapy. All three are Licensed Clinical Professional Counselors (LCPCs) who hold Masters Degrees in Counseling Psychology from Northwestern University. All abide by the Code of Ethics outlined by the American Counseling Association.
Their approach to therapy is primarily psychodynamic. Adult behaviors, relational patterns, and the beliefs we have developed about ourselves often have their roots in early childhood experiences. Most symptoms are adaptive, meaning that there are usually very good reasons why people are operating in ways that may not make sense to themselves or others. By fully examining our experiences in the past and present, we can come to understand ourselves more deeply and empower ourselves to make informed choices that can lead to positive change.
